Samsung postpones production of LCD panels for another year

Samsung will not stop producing LCD panels in the near future, and we will see the production of these panels for TVs and monitors for at least another year.

Samsung Display, the display giant of the Korean tech giant, was looking to close its LCD panel manufacturing business by the end of this year, but after a while decided to continue producing the panels until March 2021. The reason for this decision was the significant growth in demand for these panels during the Corona virus epidemic.

Samsung announced last month that it would continue to produce these panels at the “Easy” factory for at least another three months. Now the Korean company is looking to produce them for at least the next year, and apparently Samsung Electronics’ request to Samsung Display has led to such a decision.

According to a new report, Samsung Display has agreed to Samsung Electronics’ request to continue producing LCD displays for another year. The longer production of these panels does not seem to affect the profit of Samsung Display, and these panels are still produced in the easy factory in South Korea.

Using Samsung Display panels on TVs and monitors is in Samsung Electronics’ favor. The Korean company initially wanted to supply the LCD panels needed for mini-LED TVs from Chinese companies, but has now approached Samsung Display and agreed to the request.

The coronavirus is still around the world, and despite vaccinations in various countries, we expect to continue to be infected next year, especially as the new strain spreads rapidly in the UK. In this regard, Covid-19 will continue to increase staff telecommuting in 2021, which will increase the demand for laptops, monitors and LCD panels. Companies may face a shortage of chips to produce their products next year.

According to research, the price of LCD panels has risen by nearly 80% since the onset of the Corona crisis, and it is likely that we will see another price increase next year. Apparently, as long as there is demand for these panels, Samsung will continue to produce them. At present, half of the market for these panels is held by Chinese manufacturers.
